BetVictor Review

Formerly known as Victor Chandler, BetVictor is one of the UK's longest established bookmakers and have gone on to be a brand most bookmakers could only dream of. From relatively humble beginnings, the company - still owned by the Chandler family - has seen many changes over the years, none more so than their switch to online and mobile devices.

Whilst the site has probably outgrown even the wildest of dreams for the Chandler family, BetVictor has continued to offer one of the most unrivalled betting experiences in the world. Their affiliation with sporting events globally has made them a huge brand these days and it's this power and recognition with the gambling industry that has allowed them to become one of the biggest bookmakers in the world.

Sports Betting

A site the size of BetVictor is always going to have a strong range of features going for it. The site doesn’t just become this big by offering a few markets and promotions for their punters, so let's take a look and see what's on offer.

Betting Odds and Markets

One of the reasons why we are so fond of BetVictor is the fact that they consistently offer some of the best odds in the industry. In fact, we have rarely seen them outside the top three for pretty much any sport. They really excel in the field of football though and even sites like have recommended them with the 2012/13 season seeing BetVictor be best priced on 93% of markets. This is a simply staggering feat and if ever there was going to be a bookmaker that you used and wanted to be confident that you were getting the best price possible, BetVictor would have to be that site.

What's equally impressive is the number of sports that they actually cover. There is little doubt that football and horse racing will make up a large part of the bookmaker, but there are over 30 other sports to bet on and each includes as comprehensive a range of markets to bet on as you are ever going to find.

They also cover one-off events like very few in the industry as well. For example, the World Cup just so happens to be taking place at the minute and they have dedicated a whole section to the tournament that includes betting markets, promotions, group information, fixtures, results, stats and so much more.

Mobile Betting

As you're probably going to work out by now, BetVictor have a really solid mobile betting app. Like many in the industry, it's had some teething problems over the last few years, but they seem to be well and truly behind them now and the app is as polished as you are going to find.

Live Betting

A huge section of their site is based around live betting and it's arguably one of the best sections in the business. You are taken to a completely different page for this section and each match includes a dedicated 'match centre' where you can find out a load of information about what's going on. What we really found useful is that the information that you can find on there can be used to make actual betting decisions, without having to watch the match live, unlike many of its rivals.

Live Streaming

BetVictor offer a live streaming service for horse races from the UK, Ireland, South Africa and the UAE. They ask you to place a bet of at least €/£1 on the race that you want to watch to stream it. Whilst it’s a pretty comprehensive range of races they have on offer, if horse racing isn’t your thing then the streaming service will be pretty much useless.

Casino Games

The BetVictor casino is powered by a number of casino software operators including Microgaming, NetEnt, IGT and Novoline, to name a few. The flexibility of having more than one provider means that they can hand pick the games they want to promote from each provider. It also works well for an accumulation of jackpot games, of which we will mention below.

The software is strictly a browser based version of the casino, with no download options if you’re on a PC or a Mac. Alternatively you can play direct on your mobile by simply downloading the BetVictor casino app via the App Store. For those who are not on an iOS device then simply visit the casino via your smartphones browser and you will automatically be redirected to the mobile version, which you can then add to your home screen if you wish. Alternatively, there is a QR code on the BetVictor website, should you rather go own that route.

Table Games

The table game variants at BetVictor casino are some of the best we have seen. There are over 50 titles to choose from with games ranging from Caribbean Stud Poker, Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat and Casino Stud Poker, with dozens of variations of each.

Backing up the table games are over 375 slots that you can choose from. Again, it’s another staggering amount and obviously the combination of the 4 networks has allowed BetVictor to offer up such a massive catalogue to choose form. What we will say is that there aren’t as many of the branded slots as some, but in terms of depth, BetVictor cannot be beaten.

Progressive Jackpots

The progressive folder is also very strong, with around 40 or so to choose from. Again, the mix of networks means that games and jackpot numbers will vary, but with that comes some huge jackpots hitting well in excess of 7 figures.

Poker Games

BetVictor are powered by Microgaming, one of the biggest online poker software developers in the industry. With this comes a number of different games including cash, multi table tournaments and sit and go’s. You’re going to see variants that include Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Seven and Five card Stud, Razz and Five Card Draw to name but a few.

The software will need to be downloaded if you are suing a PC or a Mac and unfortunately there is no mobile poker option at the time of writing.

About BetVictor

It wasn’t too long ago that BetVictor was actually called Victor Chandler, named after it’s former Chairman. The rebrand came about in 2014 when business man Michael Tabor purchased the company and wanted to give it a fresh start. Since the takeover the company now has a turn over in excess of £1billlion, with over 500,000 customers in 160 countries worldwide. This is accumulates to make BetVictor one of the biggest bookmakers in the world.

They are based and licensed out of Gibraltar and have been wine 1998. In fact, it is widely thought that it was the upheaval of BetVictor that forced Gordon Brown to abolish tax on gambling to ensure that more companies, like BetVictor, didn’t follow the same suit, with the UK then missing out on millions in terms of tax and revenue.

Like a lot of bookmakers, BetVictor work hard in providing sponsorship for some of the UK’s biggest sports events. One of their biggest triumphs is getting their brand on the World Match play Darts tournament and also the Welsh Open in snooker. On top of that they sponsor multiple top quality horse races and dozens of celebrity and sports stars, none bigger than former Liverpool and England striker, Michael Owen in 2014.
